*Jack is visibly disappointed at the lack of excitement in his finding a secret door compared to an ordinary, everyday murder* "Now the sorcery's off my head I'll give this catch a try. Can someone stand alongside lest there be another guard-snake or suchlike?" *Moves to try catch* (Did you actually tell everyone that you found a secret door?) Jack opens the secret door via the mechanism he found earlier. He finds it opens into a stone chamber, which has a sarcophagus in the...wait...this room looks awfully familiar. It is the room where the Mummy was found. It is very much still cold and empty now.

"North it is then" *Jack is disappointed and aims an ill-tempered kick at Kradon's shattered skull* [It was supposed to be clear from the post where I suggest grabbing Kradon's provisions. Possibly people aren't enjoying reading my piratisms as much as I'm enjoying writing them.]

Opening the north door, the adventurers continue a short way... The passageway eventually reaches an underground river. As you approach this you can hear a beautiful voice singing a sad melody. When you reach the edge of the river and look downstream you can see a stunningly beautiful girl with long blonde hair sitting on a rock in the middle of the stream, singing. The only way onwards is to walk across the river. On the far bank, a passageway leads straight ahead.Note that the girl is so beautiful that all male members of the party have fallen in love with her! While she is singing, however, she seems to be taking a rather particular interest in Talbion. Could it be his lucky day? She points to him and beckons him to join her on the rock she is sitting on. She is playing with her hair and giving him 'the look'; Talbion desperately wants to swim over to her. Does Talbion swim over or not?

"Talbion! I do not believe that wench is as she seems! I've seen good men dive overboard for strange beauties on rocks. Few have returned."
*Moves to block Talbion from the water*

Talbion's natural aversion to risk grapples against his desire to dive in the water towards this mysterious woman.

<What about the depth and speed of the river? First it is suggested that we need to walk across the river, then Talbion is asked whether he wishes to swim to the island.>
*CS is eyeing the river and pondering it's crossability while flexing his muscles and trying to look genuinely dashing in front of the rivermaid*

Talbion is lucky; in this case however it means that he cannot resist and attempts to plunge into the water to swim to the rock! Jack tries to talk sense into him but it is no use. The girl on the rock takes the nut thrown by Throma straight to the face, crying out for Talbion to rescue her. The love-crazed adventurer sees the poor damsel being hit by the nut (clearly his female companion is possessed by pure jealousy), and knows that he is the only one who can save her. He shoves Jack out of the way and starts swimming over to the girl. The girl is begging him to swim away with her down the river. As she turns the party can see that she has the lower body of a fish; she is a MERMAID!
The party needs to decide whether they will let Talbion swim off with the love of his life, or crush his dreams by stopping him. But Talbion will not listen to reason; the Mermaid seems to have him completely charmed.

There's no warm bed for you with that cold fish." You grab Talbion and try to drag him back, but he is in a frenzied state and will do whatever it takes to rendezvous with his newfound love. He readies his spear and looks like he is prepared to fight anyone who tries to hold him back. The mermaid is waiting for Talbion with open arms and a wide smile...did you just see her lick her lips?

For everyone but Kieran (not sure this is necessary). *Tries to catch the eye of anyone not in Talbion's eye-line to get them to take him out at the knees or bearhug his arms or anything to avoid full combat while Jack keeps his attention* (Roll to test surreptitiousness somehow: 5) "Don't be a fool! When we've finished here you'll have booty. Lots of booty! Enough to afford proper girls with legs. And there's nothing wrong with slaying crewmates if they're unbearable. 'Tis the law of the sea. Questing with the old man was like getting my brain keel-hauled."

Whilst Jack and Civilservicus circle around Talbion, Throma swims over to the mermaid. After being hit with a nut, the mermaid leaps to attack her as soon as she reaches the rock. Talbion goes berserk and attacks the adventurers who are preventing him from reaching the mermaid!
And thus, combat begins. The combat will be split into 2 parts, Throma v mermaid on the rock, and Talbion, Jack and CS in the shallows. If anyone else wishes to join combat, it will take 1 round to reach the rock, but you can engage Talbion immediately if you wish. Talbion can elect which adventurer he wishes to fight each round.
==Round One==
Mermaid Skill 4 Stamina 7 Attacks 1 Mermaid attacks Throma. Attack Strength 11...
