That was quick! ( and ridiculous)
Very quickly ending up with a luck of minus 1 and a skill of 8, I then had to face a skill 8 Decayer with my skill temporarily reduced by two more.
My skill 6, unlucky waste of space died.

2nd shot
11/18/8
Despite keeping my skill intact until I met the Decayer again, some unlucky rolls coupled with the 4 stamina loss per hit, meant he killed me again.

3rd shot
11/17/12
Ok, I ran away from the Decayer and everything went quite well for a whiley. (although I definitely missed the assassin a Seer said I'd meet next, so he's rubbish) I made it all the way to the River Kok where I was fooled by the ferryman and drunk poisoned water..
That was a better read than I expected, but its sooooo linear that it's going to be a dull slug getting to the same point again.

I enjoyed Assassins and thought it was well written despite the strange ending. I think it is under rated and I didn't find it a slog at all as I enjoyed re-playing to locate and defeat all of the assassins.

If you read a few of my earlier attempts at the books, you'll realise that although I am a patient lad, I do have my limits! - not all the game books required you to 'see' 80% of the book by following the true path - in fact, this seems to be a scholastic thing. Anyway. 4th shot 11/15/11 Ended up sticking with my previous route, which meant I lasted until the end. This, of course meant I died, as when Azzur found out I had an even number of pendants, he had me killed... I had 8 by the way.

And 5th shot
8/17/10
Despite amassing a goodly number of items which claimed I could add skill, as per standard rules I couldn't do this (annoying)
This meant that when I met Garanka he killed me with his skill 10 stuff.
And 6th shot - MAX STATS
Ok. I had a bit of a wander prior to entering Kaad, and while in Kaad as weel. This meant I found (and killed) two assassins I hadn't encountered before.
Then I met another one, she mind controlled me and I didn't have a headband.
So I died.
FAIL.
Ok, so it wasn't the worst book ever. The illustrations are a piece of keech. Apart from the lassie Greta? - think the artist enjoyed drawing her.
I'll not be playing it for a long time, but I'll come back to it eventually.
Nb - had a quick glance at the solution and, well, it shames me to say that I never visited Blacksand in any of my playthrough, so I doomed myself each time!

Crystal of storms.
10/15/8
Ok, all new to me. (so was the last one apart from reading the background when it came out!)
I investigated all three available islands starting with Cirrus (and I mean thoroughly), but on the final island so far open to me I was killed by the lightening serpent due to having lost two skill points over the course of time.
Worst illustrations yet, I reckon.
Story = bland, but acceptable, so far

Worst illustrations yet, I reckon. The Scholastic versions of Appointment with FEAR and The Shamutanti Hills are definitely worse in my opinion.

I shall have to seek them out! - I only have scholastic books of the brand new stories. Hard to imagine worse than these illustrations though!

Second shot
12/20/10
Glad of that high skill. What a lot of baddies I had to fight, most of them nothing special and accompanied by a really nasty picture.
Still the island hopping was fun enough and I got to venture into the water.
I was then faced with very limited choices, mainly being - 'Do ypu want to investigate the thing next to you or continue. ".
I poked my nose into as many places as possible and eventually found a goblin and had the three items he needed.
I then had a giant to help me kill the big baddy, and thanks to heaps of potions for him and my skill boosted to 13. Well, I won!!

SECRETS OF SALAMONIS
first shot.
Certainly well written and engaging compared to the last two books.
I had a very cautious playthrough seeing as I'm stuck with crappy stats.
Got stuck in a very annoying loop for a while but broke out of it and headed for the adventurers guild and failed the luck teat to get my backpack.
Fail!
(only had 5 salacoins, an amonour of 4 and down to 1 stamina at the time!)

2nd shot.
Okay, I gained coins worth 1 gp and got my backpack! I ended up with amonour of 5 (pretty poor I think) but at least my luck rolls are guaranteed so I made my skill 10 and stamina 13.
I completed my first quest (rata pillar) after being telt I was too rubbish to find the unicorn!
I then went on a quest to be an escort and after killing a goblin and dire wolf, I got slaughtered.
This is a fun book. However, I'm going to ration it and play my next two shots tommorow!

Ah bum.
Overlooked that somehow.
Ah, well, I doubt it would have affected my playthrough up to that point.
Going to have to try harder next time though!

3rd shot - killed by the Toadmen after going the wrong way.
4th shot - killed by a Gretch due to taking 3 stamina damage each time.
This book gets tiresome. (and I didn't want to say that)

5th try - uh oh, it's Fireday and although I had encountered the shrieking man before, I didn't have the right item and got killed by shriekers. 6th shot Killed by the cardinal (should have brought a better weapon with me) And that's a fail. Noticed more than one of you saying this book was a bit easy? - having looked at the walk through, I suppose I would have got there eventually, but it would have been a result of a 'Livingstone style' trial and error way. I reckon I would probably have needed a dozen shots in total to win. Which I wouldn't have wanted to do, as I've seen a huge amount of the book already and was getting bored...... Nb - the spine of my book is still in perfectly good nick! - what on earth are you guys daein?

I haven’t completed the newest FF books yet but I’m looking forward to giving them a go soon.

Thanks for reading!
I would give SALAMONIS a couple of days between playthroughs to keep it fresh!

Worst illustrations yet, I reckon. The Scholastic versions of Appointment with FEAR and The Shamutanti Hills are definitely worse in my opinion. Sadly even though Appointment With FEAR is my favorite Fighting Fantasy Book I admit that The Scholastic Version of it has the worst, in my opinion, art in the entire series In case your wondering how Appointment with FEAR is my favorite book in the series despite having what I consider to be the worst paragraph 300 in the series its because in my opinion the rest of the book is good enough to more then make up for it having the worst, in my opinion, paragraph 300 in the series
